One Piece: Characters Who Never Stood a Chance Against Luffy

1 min read

Unlike many shōnen heroes, Monkey D. Luffy began One Piece already quite strong thanks to his Gum-Gum Fruit powers. Over the years, his strength has grown to near godlike levels with Gear transformations and advanced Haki. While he has faced grueling battles against monsters like Kaido and Doflamingo, not all of his opponents stood a chance.

Here are the One Piece characters who were completely outclassed by Luffy from the very start.

Cracker

  • Episode: 798 (Whole Cake Island Arc)

As one of Big Mom’s Sweet Commanders, Charlotte Cracker was no pushover. His biscuit soldiers initially gave Luffy trouble, but once Nami softened them with rain, the battle turned into a feast. Luffy devoured the biscuits until he reached his Tankman form, overwhelming Cracker in a fight he never truly controlled. Facing a glutton like Luffy was the worst possible matchup for him.

Bellamy

  • Episodes: 151 (Jaya), later in Dressrosa

Armed with his Spring-Spring Fruit, Bellamy relied on speed and mobility. Against most foes, his bouncing strikes were effective — but Luffy flattened him with a single punch on Jaya. Years later in Dressrosa, Bellamy once again tried to challenge Luffy, only to be effortlessly put down. His courage was real, but his power gap with Luffy was impossible to bridge.

Usopp

  • Episode: 236 (Water 7 Arc)

The emotional duel between Usopp and Luffy over the fate of the Going Merry wasn’t just a clash of ideals — it was a clear mismatch in strength. Despite clever tricks, gadgets, and determination, Usopp admitted he couldn’t match a member of the Monster Trio. Luffy’s reluctant victory emphasized just how wide the gap was between captain and sniper.

Wapol

  • Episode: 87 (Drum Island Arc)

The tyrant of Drum Island, Wapol, relied on his Munch-Munch Fruit to consume enemies and objects. Against Luffy, though, his gluttonous powers were useless. Luffy manhandled him like a chew toy before launching him through a roof, liberating Drum Island in the process. Wapol’s reign ended in total humiliation.

Blueno

  • Episode: 270 (Enies Lobby Arc)

As a member of CP9, Blueno was supposed to be one of the World Government’s deadliest agents. Against base Luffy, he may have stood a chance. But when Luffy revealed Gear Second for the first time, Blueno was completely outmatched. His Doa-Doa Fruit abilities couldn’t keep up with Luffy’s blistering speed, making this fight one of the Straw Hat captain’s easiest victories.

Conclusion

Luffy’s journey to becoming Pirate King is filled with legendary battles, but these fights remind fans that not every opponent is destined to stand on equal footing. Cracker, Bellamy, Usopp, Wapol, and Blueno may have challenged him, but each quickly learned just how overwhelming the Straw Hat captain’s power truly was.

As the Final Saga unfolds, even more foes will discover the hard way why Luffy has earned his place among the Emperors of the Sea.
